Branch Out and Grow

Branch Out and Grow, a support group for separated and divorced, will meet at Bishop Ludden High School, 815 Fay Rd., Syracuse Wednesday, December 7 – 7:00 – 8:30 PM. We will be showing a meditative video, “Forgiveness” by DivorceCare, with a discussion to follow. All are welcome. For more information please call 472-6754 ext.5.

Evening of Carols and Seasonal Music

An Evening of Carols and Seasonal Music will be presented at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Fairmount Next Sunday, December 4 at 7:00 PM The concert will include Voices of Faith from 13 area churches, Seneca String Quartet, Monica Merante, and the John Spillett Jazz Duo. A cookie reception to follow. Free will offering.

50/50 Drawing Winners
The winner of the 50/50 Drawing from the Spaghetti Supper on October 29 was Frank Shultz, Sr. The winner for the Free Spaghetti Supper on November 12 was John Bowden. Congratulations to both winners.

Mass Intentions for 2012
The calendar for Mass intentions is open for 2012. All intentions will be accepted but may not be said at Our Lady of Peace, as the availability of weekend and weekday Masses has been reduced from past years. Please call 487-6832 or send a note with the dates requested to the Parish Office.

The Third Option – A Better Marriage!

Knights of Columbus

Raffle Ticket Sales
The Knights will be selling raffle tickets at all Masses the weekend of October 29 and 30. The sale of these tickets helps support the charitable and benevolent programs sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Tickets are only $1.00. Top prize is $25,000, 2nd prize is $10,000, 3rd prize is $1,000. Please consider giving to this worthwhile cause.

Permanent Diaconate Informational Seminar

A Permanent Deacon is ordained as a Sacramental Sign of the Church, as servant in active love and justice in society, in heralding the Word of God, and in celebrating the Sacraments. If you have any interest in learning more about
the Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Syracuse or about the Deacon Formation Program, come to an informational seminar at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt Sunday November 13 2:00 to 4:30 PM
Male applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Completed the Diocesan Formation for Ministry Program or its equivalent.
  • Completed the VIRTUS training through the Safe Environment Program.
  • Discerned a call to service.
  • Have parish or agency sponsorship.

Men wishing to apply this year to enter the program beginning
September, 2012, must attend the information meeting along
with their spouse, if applicable, on November 13.

Annulment Information Session

The annual annulment information session will be held at Christ the King Retreat Center, 500 Brookford Rd,. Syracuse Tuesday, October 18, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Father Vavonese dispels the myths about annulment and provides practical advice on how to move forward. This session is free. Refreshments will be served. Please call 472-6754 ext. 5 to pre-register. All are welcome.

Craft Show & Bake Sale

The Lakeside Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a craft show and bake sale at the Lakeside Fire Department Recreational Hall, 1002 State Fair Blvd., Lakeland

41st ANNUAL ROSARY RALLY

Fr. Eric De La Pina has planned this rally for October 2, at 2:00 pm at the Basilica Sacred Heart, 927 Park Ave. Syracuse. The theme for this celebration is Our Lady of Hope and includes Expostion of the Blessed Sacrament, Recitation of the Rosary, Consecration to Our Lady and veneration of Her image. There will be refreshments following in the Parish Hall. ALL are invited to attend.

Medical Grants for disabled & other children

The United Healthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) provides medical grants to qualified families, enrolled in employer-sponsored health coverage or who purchased an individual policy, to help pay for child health care services, such as speech therapy, physical therapy, prescriptions, and various medical equipment. Parents and legal guardians may apply for grants up to $5000 by completing the online application. The website contains criteria to apply, video and stories of recently helped children. To be considered for a grant, you must be 16yrs. Or younger, reside in US, have family meet economic guidelines and be covered by a commercial health benefit plan.
